Many people shared the opinion, including myself, that Mark should step down from being CEO at Facebook but that did not translate into Mark should be a scapegoat, Mark should be broke, nor did it translate into Mark should lose everything he has… The man has a family and children to care for. He should not be everyone’s punching bag when it’s well known that data harvesting had the potential to run amuck.
Mark was hit so hard because observers had the foresight to see that he had an epic platform and the potential to run for President. He was probably, one day, sitting in a meeting directly across from the person who took a swipe at him. We know Cambridge Analytica is far from the only group that hit Facebook.
I think it’s time for a huddle and a technological Pow-Wow.
What really needs to happen here is companies need to review and enforce their privacy and data policies. If data is collected for a purpose it shouldn’t be used for other purposes. They often use prescription drugs to treat off-label conditions but when it comes to social media this could hurt a lot more people.
Also if you see something, say something applies to the field.
On a side note my brothers dog just got its tongue zapped by a mouse trap. Ouch.
