Elon on Education

Traditional scholars are upset with Elon Musk for saying High Schools and colleges are not required, but today, high schools and colleges are actually keeping certain groups of people from receiving a healthy, traditional education. Education is not a place, and things like hands-on training, homeschooling, and open-source are valid mechanisms for learning. They also take an equal amount of work, and at times, online education can require more work.

Are schools getting shot up, teachers picketing, and children protesting a good education? Is the United States ranking 17th worldwide good schooling? I’d say we could do better.

Schools today are becoming nothing more than a tracking mechanism. I have no doubt that online college yearbooks, especially the extracurricular activity sections, are being exploited and cross-referenced with social media for political gain. I observed this and spoke to people about the likelihood of this happening five years ago.

We have many amazing teachers, but the truth still stands. Our teachers wouldn’t be out on the streets if there wasn’t a problem. I am simply supporting the teachers and acknowledging their pain.

New Jersey teachers are upset.

West Virginia teachers are upset.

Pennsylvania teachers are upset.

When your educators feel underappreciated or even abused, it is more likely that your child will not receive a good education. Then we have to watch out for explosive teacher-student violence.

This is coming from someone who has received education from self-teaching, online education from Yale, Biola University and whose son has taken classes from MIT and Gresham College.

The cost of college has gotten so expensive in the United States that it would have been cheaper for me to sell all of our stuff when my son was in middle school, move to Ireland, live there for 5 years, and have him go to college there for free.

We’re nowhere near #1, folks, but we can make vast improvements to our educational system.

Let’s listen to people who have and have “raised” children paying close attention to people who have children under 24. Community members with opposing views to our beliefs are the saving grace to keep our country out of Communism. These individuals should be raised up. The deterioration of our society has to do with devaluing things that matter. We need to acknowledge the value of active parents in our society.

The days of snapping a picture with people to meet a quota are slowly coming to an end. Parents and students are actually expecting educational institutions to work with and develop plans that will harness the strength of this ongoing systemic evolution.

The input of students is vital but if we listen too much to minors we will be carried away on their whims of circumstance and hormones. There has to be a healthy balance.

We need to pay more attention to what parents who raise their children are saying and what they are experiencing with the schools. Education is a huge dynamic of our economy.

I understand that some people are great teachers who don’t have children and have made wonderful contributions but there is no simulation that can mimic that of a parent who has actually raised a child.

Overall, change is coming whether we like it or not and it’s up to us to comfort the people so our transitions in education and elsewhere will be positive.
