Mark Zuckerberg has been called to testify before the House Committee.
There are a few things that Facebook would benefit from doing:
- Add a human touch. Meaning that people can chat live with Facebook Staff at anytime to make them aware of problems. They can also add in real costumer service staff in country for each facility. With 5 days per week available for phone support.
- Their customers should be able to search their Facebook by keywords and dates to delete specific data but no one should be required to delete their data.
- No longer allowing official politicians to use Facebook. Meaning, completely remove the option of use for Pac’s, Special Interest or Politicians.
- Segmenting Facebook to allow the politics to be present on a separate site owned by them. Where their costumers are given an ID by Facebook with no identifiable markers. Put in place proper support and reporting systems. They should also charge a fee for every user to use the political site.
This situation has opened the floodgates to social media safety discussions. We can now recognition the overwhelming fiscal loss that is caused by hackers and data abusers. While large companies can handle such matters, medium and low-income people can not. This is why I would love to see tech units available at every police station. Equipping the towns with no cost or low-cost Tech Assistance Centers would also put a dent in this issue. Any company can experience this type of breech and it must be taken seriously.
Also when cell phones are sold security options such as MacAfee should be required to be downloaded on the phone before it leaves the store even if it is a gift. Many users use the Facebook Ap and we need to keep them safe.
