It’s unfortunate that Senator Bookers friend, Mark Zuckerberg, knew that Facebook was being hit with illegal data harvesting by Cambridge Analytica and did nothing. This was an epic fail on his part. This type of behavior breaks down every ounce of trust that was built. The citizens of the world need to be able to trust Facebook’s leadership. We can only hope this is a domestic issue of influenced elections (Please note the plural) and not global.
We have to stop treating our AI and Social Media Companies as if they are in some type of marriage and the couple has to hide the fighting from their kids.
When people collect data they collect it on everyone. If I was to sit back and collect data on any given person I would eventually find a pattern. This pattern would reveal a persons strengths and their weaknesses. People usually seek out weaknesses as a door way to something else. We all have weaknesses and it does not matter who you are.
People harvesting this level of data and partnering it with other new technologies could and has destroyed innocent human lives. We need to protect the people. All people not just the rich but also the poor. Data collection should never be weaponized against our own citizens nor should it be humanized in the sense that we believe a persons data is who they are. It is not who they are.
If Mark doesn’t step down he will be removed from his station as CEO. Maybe Elon Musk can replace him but he’s so busy that he might be tied up.
We need more scientist and business men and women of good character.
It deeply saddens me to say Mark Zuckerberg, “You’re Fired. You are freaking fired! Catch a Trolley and have a great day.”
