Recently, I saw a video of a baseball player abusing a woman, and we have to know by failing to discourage this behavior, we are teaching men that it is OK. The baseball player was reprimanded, but too many men are not corrected. Sitting in silence is like issuing a seal of approval. Sitting back while knowing that it’s happening puts both women and children at risk. Verbal abuse and emotional abuse are the flashing warning signals that we should not ignore because verbal abusers will often escalate to physical abuse. Not correcting emotional violence makes us the bricklayers to the path leading to physical violence, and leaves both men and women at risk.
The best thing we can do for all men is to teach them to do right, and that doing the right thing is rewarded.
Do not teach men to self-hate.
Do not teach young men to not to listen to their parents if they are doing right.
Do not teach them to be abusive.
Do not teach them to hate or disrespect women.
Do not teach them to discriminate against the group of women they will be kind to.
Love them.
Do teach them that they are powerful.
Do teach them that they are valuable.
Do teach them that they can achieve anything.
Do teach them to have mercy when people struggle.
Do teach people to call the bad guys to correction, and also to be helpful.
Do teach them to repent and be saved.
What we all have to understand is that God chose women to be the tunnel to life. They are vehicles of hope, temples of deliverance and key parts in the family of God. While science has given us many options, we have to remember that without women, there are no men, and without men, there are no women.
Are we so arrogant to believe that we can rebuild Paradise? Or have we not reflected on our imperfect fallen nature that is flawed, therefore anything we build is flawed?
Knowing that we are not perfect on our own, we must be diligent in how we respond to men, because they will be Kings one day, and what is the value of a King who cannot recognize his Queen?
