Thinking Beyond Ourselves

Sometimes we need to get things done and this requires us not to play games. In politics, I’ve seen citizens miss out on things such as getting a new library, park, or even schools because the politicians wanted a specific person, sex, or race to get the credit. Even if that person does not deserve the credit.

Rule number one in Politics Club…

We look out for the well-being of the people in our charge and don’t seek idolizing, adulation or worship for ourselves.

Please be assured that when kind things are done the word has a way of carrying on the wind.

The political games that are being played today are really unfair to everyone involved and especially to our young ones. There are so many people who volunteer because they want to get things done. Let’s support the people by not wasting their time.

Seeing the fruits of one’s labor is reinforcing and encourages them to stay involved. We can’t just tell people, “Get involved!.” We need to show them in a healthy way that we want them to be there. Having volunteer appreciation dinners and rewards is great but the real reward is the actual project getting done.
