The Honorable Senator Cory Anthony Booker

I remember the first time I saw Senator Booker. It was over 5 years ago, around  Thanksgiving time. There’s a counter at my dad’s house that has everything thrown about, and there was a post card with Cory’s big head on it. Because I like big bald heads reminiscent of bowling balls, he caught my eye. Like a teenager, I snatched up the card and took it home with me to North Carolina. Upon arriving home, without reading anymore about him, I sent him some of my hard earned money. I use to own a very successful tutoring company, but some people got jealous and tried to ruin the debt free, high credit score, life that I had created for me and my son. They were thinking, “God forbid we have a descendant of Harriet Tubman Ross, a minority black woman with no criminal history, and an honest salary.” I’m in no way implying that it was a white person who was being racist. Black people do stuff to each other all the time.

My salary was pretty darn high for working part time, and I deserved every dime of it. There was no fooling with the boss to get this money, ladies. I earned it. It allowed me to keep my son out of trouble, take him to and from school, supplement his education, keep him involved in social activities, go where ever we needed, and give him a healthy life. It’s the same life that I want for all of our kids to have regardless of race, religion and creed. No one had to advocate for my son to keep him out of jail, because I was there for him 100%. Besides, my clients benefitted from working with me, because their children made amazing strides. I’ve been blessed enough to actually receive private session training with, the late, founder of The Handle Institute, Judith Bluestone. I also attend seminars featuring the writer of the ABBLS-R, Dr. Partington , and received hands on training from Ron Faulkner from the TEACCH Program in Chapel Hill, NC. It’s just too much to list.

Seeing Senator Booker on that post card was very inspirational to me because, while my son is not black, he is a minority, and he needs to see other people like him, who are successful. Senator Booker is academically gifted, and both my son and I can appreciate that too.  It’s rare, with all the African Americans being turned against each other, for any of us to make it to Presidency age without a record. That’s what makes Senator Booker so special. His mother did a great job.

About 4 years ago, like a little girl smitten with her pup, I made a screen saver with hearts and Senator Bookers big head on it. Then I went full on stalker mode, and wrote a book about what it would be like to marry Senator Booker titled “Becoming Mrs. Cory Booker”. I jest about stalking, because what the book was really about was the conditions that the First Ladies have to live under. It can be treacherous.

Speaking about being in politics…

Right when I was approaching the age to run for office, everything in my life got flipped upside down. I was targeted because I was completely tied into my, community (Cary, Apex, Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina). Because I was so innocent at the time, I didn’t even see it coming, because I wasn’t even thinking of running for office. My volunteering and donating to a whole slew of organizations was just something I did, and my ex-boyfriend literally helped to install President Nixon’s security at his house. Looking back I can see how it would be assumed that I was plotting a run.

It seems the technology of finding, and locating, people has gotten ahead of us, and we, the people, are not paying attention. The problem we have with that is we have no Technological Constitution, and a confirmation-bias driven society.  Anyone can hack into our devices at any time to do basic things, like violate our constitutional rights, steal our money, or other things, like socially engineer our lives. They can even try to judge us for cultural differences since many hackers are overseas. What’s worse is people not  involved in science don’t know that some people with wealth are more likely to be sociopathic or psychopathic.  They see nothing wrong with targeting a person who makes 35K a year when they make millions and billions. From my private observations people like this will just as quickly attempt to strike their best friends.

Go and listen to my boy, Elon Musk, to learn more about the dangers of technology. Cops today have it hard, because technology allows for the setting up of individuals, because of backdoors. It also allows individuals to be tracked right down to where they go to the doctor, and how those hackers hit your doctors totally depends on who you are.

Seriously, I had just gotten to the point with my hackers that I started typing obnoxious stuff into my phone for entertainment reasons. People also locate me, and ask me some of the most unnerving things, so I say things to upset them, even if I don’t mean it. Now, I know this sounds childish, but we live in a world where people actually call you a liar if you say you died your hair pink. Getting people away from me and my child is more of a priority to me than what I actually say. While in North Carolina, he was literally harassed in school over politics. Honestly, I’m one of those folks to whom everyone replies, “I can’t believe they said that! Did they mean that? Are they being serious?”  5 times out of 10, I’m not serious. Before you go judging me, please know there are very few women who can hold it together like I can. It’s just become abundantly clear to me that our society has forgotten what boundaries are, and failed to understand that individuals set them. We’ll hold off on that conversation for another day.

One thing I’ve noticed about Senator Booker, is he is very good at fixing his political mistakes. He’s made them, and I’ve called him all kinds of names for it. The other day, I was rather colorful in my banter about him while talking about politics. No worries folks, I wasn’t cursing like a sailor, I was just frustrated with the things that he was missing. It’s OK that he misses things though, because no one is perfect. Senator Booker has it harder than people know because he’s not a complainer, and creatures like me take the time to observer and see what others can’t. Plus, he’s surrounded by people who use money to strong arm each other. It’s like the man is living in a political cell. I sent him a care package before just to let him know he’s loved.

The best way to help our leaders, is to call them and tell them what’s going on. Let them know, in a calm fashion, the changes that we’d like to see made. We should also thank them for the work that they do. We are not obligated in any way to serve our country, because we are free, but it’s nice when we care about each other regardless of party.
